3 August, 2018If you have been a Phoenix native for some time, you’ll know we don’t have any problem heating our homes in the summer.
But what happens when it gets cold in the desert? Not to worry, North Valley Mechanical is here to help!
Defrost Cycle
Does your equipment include a heat pump? Are you feeling cool air being blown in the middle of the night? If so, your equipment isn’t broken – it’s just going through its defrost cycle. Your heat pump will enter defrost cycle when it detects frost conditions on your outdoor coil, most likely happening in the middle of the night in Arizona.
If you turn the system off before the cycle is over, the cycle will restart when you turn the system back on.
Gas Furnace
Does your home have a gas furnace? Well, if your gas is not turned on or your pilot isn’t lit, you won’t get warm air! It’s important to understand the equipment in your home to avoid facing unnecessary service charges.
Stuck Valves
Since freezing temperatures rarely occur in Phoenix, another common heating problem we face is stuck control valves. Whether it’s a gas or reversing valve, failure to operate disables the heating function. It is crucial for all of your system components to be working together with no hesitation.
